J3D is run by me, Andrew Jackson, assisted by my partner. We are currently based in North Devon here in the UK. I started using computer based modelling tools in the late 1980’s whilst studying Industrial Design. After graduation, I spent 9 years working as a 3D designer, digital modeller, visualizer and trainer with various companies in the UK and one in the US. I set up Jackson3D in 2002, to offer technical 3D services.
As a freelancer, I started off working in the Automotive Industry, then gradually moved into the Energy sector, developing an interest in larger scale structures, working on increasingly challenging projects. In 2008, Jackson3D became J3D Design & Imaging. Working on both the engineering side of projects and marketing/communications campaigns, I began to have an insight into just how flexible, valuable and amazingly, overlooked, core 3D assets can be within organisations. Since then, as a small specialist provider, I have been privileged to work with some incredible people and Companies on projects as diverse as a Batmobile, race engines and some of the largest offshore mega-structures ever built for the Oil and Gas Industry.
Whether it’s building a surface-set to mill, developing software tools to auto-assemble, check and clean millions of individual CAD assemblies, or producing gigapixel size images of vast data sets - At the heart of what we do is a passion for the virtual 3D world, for Design and Engineering.
